Psalm 102:25-28 NLT  Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands. They will perish, but you remain forever; they will wear out like old clothing. You will change them like a garment and discard them. But you are always the same; you will live forever. The children of your people will live in security. Their children’s children will thrive in your presence.”

My favorite pair of jeans finally ripped the other day. They’ve been looking faded and worn for a while, but once there’s a rip? Well there’s no going back; now they’ve been replaced by my second favorite pair of jeans.

From our human perspective, this world seems permanent. But from God’s perspective, heaven and earth are as easily discarded as a ripped pair of jeans. That’s the sharp contrast between God and man. God is eternal, man is temporal. But because of God’s grace towards us, we can live eternally and “thrive in His presence.”  What an undeserved blessing that will be!
