2 Timothy 2:22-23 NIV  Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.

Chopping onions makes me cry. Now, I know that makes a lot of people cry, but it’s so bad that I just can’t stand it. My husband has to chop any onions in our house. Not only can I not chop the onions, but I can’t be anywhere near them, or I’ll cry. I have to go to another room and “flee from” the onions. If I walk in to a kitchen where onions are being chopped I can feel my eyes watering and I have to turn right around and leave. If I start chit chatting and don’t immediately “flee” and leave the kitchen, it’ll be too late!

God wants us to be deliberate when it comes to fleeing from temptation. He doesn’t want us to wait around and see if it will bother us this time. He says not to even listen to foolish disputes and “stupid arguments” because we’ll get sucked in to something that doesn’t glorify God. We have to flee from the kitchen before the first slice of the onion!
