"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

Last night, I asked Evelyn what the word "faith" meant to her. Her response was:
Being brave.
Having courage.
Believing in something.
Doing something because you believe.

Evelyn then turned to me and asked me what I think faith means.

I shared with her Hebrews 11:1. Faith to me is substance and evidence. It's living out in a very real way the hope and the unseen. Evelyn's answers were all great examples of the evidence that is our faith in Jesus - believing and then doing because we believe, and being brave and courageous when the world tells us there is no evidence. The Word defines faith, something intangible, with two very tangible things: substance and evidence. Our faith is those tangibles in an unbelieving world.

Living by faith in Jesus above
Trusting, confiding in His great love.
From all harm safe, in his sheltering arms.
Living by faith, and I feel no alarm.
