Philippians 1:1-2 (ERV) Greetings from Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ. To all of you in Philippi who are God’s holy people in Christ Jesus, including your elders and special servants. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I called a pastor friend who has stage IV cancer and asked him, “How do you go about loving people?” He began to tell me some things he had learned from friends that he thought were good at loving people. Things like: be upbeat, smile, ask about things in their life and listen to what they are saying.

Then he began to tell me a long list of things people in his church had been doing for him. Going to specialty stores and preparing meals for him that he was allowed to eat. Checking on him, mowing his yard, calling and encouraging his wife, asking, listening, doing any and everything.

I think that’s why Paul, a self-described servant of Jesus was so grateful for his Philippian church family. By their actions they showed their love for him and for His Jesus.

Lord Jesus, this is Dennis, I want to love You, and I want to love people, help me!
