Romans 13:11-14 (NASB) Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

With a new baby in the house, you get woken up at odd hours. The most difficult part for me is not knowing when I will be woken up next. My two month old is actually sleeping great, and only wakes up once a night, usually around 5 or 6 am. But that is so close to when my toddler wakes up for the day that sometimes they tag team me, and my day starts before I know it!

Paul didn’t want the believers in Rome to be caught off guard by the beginning of their eternity. He encouraged them, and all of us, to be ready to face the new day. That means putting aside darkness (our sin) and embracing the light. I don’t want to have any regrets about what I could have done for God’s Kingdom, if I had only woken up sooner.
