Luke 11:2-4   NASB   And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

We got a chest freezer in our garage a few months back, and it is nice to be able to stock up on certain items and buy meat when it’s on sale. Between our freezer and our pantry we could eat for a month even if the store shelves were bare!

But that kind of security isn’t always a good thing when it comes to spiritual matters. Jesus instructed his disciples to pray for their daily bread, not for bread to last a month. When we learn to rely on God each and every day, we will be much for secure than if we only seek him when we’ve used up all of our own resources.
